🔥 Brutal Tragedy in Zamfara: Bandits Kill 33 Hostages Despite Receiving ₦50 Million Ransom

Zamfara State, Nigeria — July 28, 2025 — Armed bandits led by notorious kingpin Dan Sadiya reportedly executed at least 33 kidnapped hostages in Banga village, Kaura Namoda LGA, despite collecting a ransom of ₦50 million. Only 17 victims—mostly women and children—survived and were released after the community came together to raise the funds.

🧟 Horror Tale of Betrayed Trust

Villagers explained that about 56 individuals were abducted, and ransom negotiations demanded ₦1 million per hostage. After the ransom was delivered, only 18 captives were freed, while the rest were killed one after another over a span of days.

Survivors recounted harrowing details, including how Dan Sadiya allegedly forced captives to murder each other under duress—a form of psychological torture that left emotional scars on those released.

⚠️ Regional Pattern of Ruthlessness

Similar atrocities have occurred across Zamfara, including a separate kidnapping in Yamutsawa, where 33 people were taken and only half survived.

The bandit conflict in northwestern Nigeria has escalated sharply, with reports of over 30,000 bandits operating in the region and responsible for multiple mass kidnappings and massacres. Dan Sadiya has been described as more killing and unpredictable than other infamous leaders like Turji.

😔 Community Plunge into Despair

Banga and neighboring villages are now in turmoil. Families sold every asset to pay ransom, only to receive news of deaths instead of release. One grieving family member lamented:

“We sold all our possessions… after nearly two months, we were told he had killed all the men. Only the women were allowed to return.”

Residents say the entire region has fallen under Sadiya’s control, forcing others to flee following repeated raids that include sexual violence, extortion, and assaults on anyone who resists.

📣 Calls for Urgent Action

Local leaders and survivors are demanding accelerated military operations and government intervention. Many believe that the current security response is inadequate given the scale of terror being unleashed in Kaura Namoda LGA.
