Phase Two of Renewed Hope Initiative Goes Fully Digital: NDE Opens Online Registration for Nigerians
The Federal Government, through the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), today launched the second phase of the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative (RHEI), unveiling a fully digital registration platform to empower Nigeria’s unemployed youths.
New Digital Format Aims for Greater Transparency and Inclusivity
At a launch event in Abuja, NDE Director‑General Silas Agara announced that Phase Two registration has officially commenced, featuring a national rollout of upgraded hardware and software across all 37 states and the FCT . This digital infrastructure ensures applicants can register online and avoid the bottlenecks experienced in the first phase.
Applicants will now register based on their state of residence rather than state of origin, improving accessibility and fairness for those who live away from their home states .
Eligibility Criteria and Key Dates
- Required documents: Valid National Identification Number (NIN)
- Ages accepted: Between 18 and 45 years
- Registration period: 28 July to 11 August 2025
- Processing window: 12–22 August 2025
- No fees: Participation is completely free; any solicitations or unofficial platforms should be reported .
What’s on Offer: Skills Tailored to Local Markets
The programme covers more than 30 vocational and digital skill areas, carefully tailored to each state’s economic niche—recognising that, for example, skills in Abia may differ from those in Adamawa . The first phase reportedly benefited over 93,000 Nigerians; this second phase targets 27,000 beneficiaries, with applications skyrocketing: 16,470 Nigerians applied within the first hour of opening .
NDE officials confirmed that 800 training centers across the federation have been accredited, and that all participants from the first phase are automatically excluded from registering again in Phase Two . Post-training, participants can access further support like resettlement loans, using unique IDs .
Program Enhancements and Safeguards
Inspired by lessons from Phase One, the NDE has:
- Enhanced backend infrastructure for smooth performance nationwide.
- Partnered with the Nigerian Data Protection Council (NDPC) to safeguard applicant data.
- Ensured state-based customization of skill offerings, aligning training with local market demands .
Why It Matters
With Nigeria facing significant youth unemployment and underemployment, NDE’s digitally driven RHEI Phase Two represents a powerful step toward broadening access, improving operational transparency, and ensuring more equitable delivery of support to unemployed and underemployed Nigerians. The initiative directly feeds into national objectives to reduce unemployment and stimulate economic participation.
